Singer Side Table

When Mr RY salvaged this cast iron Singer base, he knew exactly what he wanted to create.

The reclaimed Oregan Pine was smoothed by hand then sealed in layers of dark wax, for a golden colour and layers of light wax to finish.

This piece would suit a number of uses such as a hall table, desk or bedroom dresser

Dimensions: 73cm/29in tall. Table top: 71cm/28in wide, 44cm/17.5in deep

"Scaffold & Cedar" Bespoke Unit

BRIEF: "...something with character to hold the TV"

Working to specific dimensions; a combination of reclaimed scaffold planks, sturdy fencing posts and 100 year old Cedar.  The planks were cut and shaped by hand, fixed to the four posts and given some character, with Mr RY's faithful chisels, for a more rustic look.  No nails or screws were used - just traditional carpentry techniques to create this piece.

Oak stain was applied to the top and legs, then following a light sand - dark wax was rubbed in - to accentuate the gorgeous grain within the timbers.  Clear wax sealed the legs and a hard wax oil was applied to the top, for durability.  The cedar shelf was finished with a clear wax, to highlight the existing stunning shades.

Dimensions: 38cm/15in deep, 98cm/38.5in wide, 37cm/14.5in tall. Shelf: 65cm/25.5in wide, 43cm/17in deep (protrudes approx. 5cm out, under the top of unit)

Singer Station

When Mr RY salvaged these cast iron Singer legs, he knew they would be for something special.  The solid piece of reclaimed Malaysian hardwood was shaped by hand to resemble three chunky planks, then battered with a chain to give a more aged, distressed look - to tie in with the industrial, vintage legs.  Stained with ebony and american walnut wood stain and sealed with lashings of 50/50 teak and linseed oils, to highlight the stunning grain and colours. This piece would suit a number of uses such as a work station or breakfast bar.

INTERESTING FACT

In identifying the year of manufacture, we discovered the legs (SIMANCO: Singer Manufacturing Company, serial number 46674) are from 1861.  The first treadle sewing machine was conceived by Isaac Merritt Singer in 1850 and the first machines were manufactured under Singer Manufacturing Co.  The first serial number for which records are available is 611000 (1871) with logbooks from before that period being lost.  Before electric motor drive, these cast iron stands supported the treadle mechanism.

Log Cable Table "Grey Oak"

Finished with a wash in Grey Oak wood stain then sealed with Danish Oil. The log retains the original bark, very gently smoothed to remove the rough edges and lacquered to seal. A lonely log - given a new lease of life, the Rekindled Way. Raised on felt feet, to protect flooring.
