Hand Carved Log "Tree Spirit"
Saved from the wood chipper, this chunky log was brought to life by Rekindled Yard.
​Gradually and carefully carved by hand, to reveal the Tree Spirit hidden beneath the weathered surface, then layered with oil to protect and enhance the gorgeous grain. The natural swirl in the wood grain lent itself perfectly to the eyes and cheek bones... he was literally waiting to come out!
Dimensions:
66cm / 26in tall, 14cm / 5.5in wide
This type of piece can also be cut flat at the back and mounted with a wall hanging (examples below).

Hand Carved Magic Wands

Starting out as a reclaimed, various timber, Mr RY whittles and carves the shape of a wand. Being carved by hand - each one different!
Stained with wood dye (some gently sanded to emphasise the different tones) and finally sealed with natural beeswax, to highlight the stunning grain.

"Strollin' Bones" (...with a penny to pay the ferry man)
The intricate, skeletal features carved by hand and accentuated with shaping from top to bottom. Stained with layers Ebony and Dark Oak wood dyes, between light sanding for a distressed look and sealed with natural bees wax.

Hand Carved Unicorn
In keeping with Rekindled Yard's ethos, this piece was created from a fallen plum tree and carved by hand.
The unicorn features were accentuated using pyrography, then sealed in jacobean dark oak wax, before heading to its forever home with wee Evelyn.

Hand Carved "Lucky Penny" Walking Staff
In keeping with Rekindled Yard's ethos, this hand carved walking stick was created from reclaimed timber. The "tree spirit" was carved in whitewood, by hand, as well as the gentle swirl to the base.
Washed in black ebony wood stain, gently sanded to give an aged look then sealed with jacobean dark oak wax. The stick is finished with a copper ferrule and a lucky penny... offering luck to the new owner with each step!

Hand Carved Decorative Bowl / Centre piece
Mr RY's trusty chisels helped to carefully shape this solid piece from the trunk of a Holly Tree.
While Holly is not rare, the timber is notoriously difficult to dry out without cracking, which makes this piece extra special.
Lathered with linseed oil to seal and highlight the stunning spalted grain.
With a smooth, flat base, this piece can be flipped upside down and used for display

Fairy House Garden Bird Feeder
A piece which emphasises RY's effort to reuse every bit of timber...
This cracked old log was not good enough for a detailed piece, so Mr RY carved out simple shapes for a door, windows and chimney pots, for display in our rockery at the Yard... Needless to say, the birds were delighted!

Hand Carved "Old Grey" Walking Staffs
In keeping with Rekindled Yard's ethos, these hand carved walking sticks were created from reclaimed timber.
The "tree spirits" were carved in redwood by hand, as well as the gentle swirl down to the copper ferrule tip. These three were washed in grey oak wood stain, plus numerous coats of danish oil and polished to build up a hardy finish, ready for the great out doors!
Can be finished with a copper ferrule and a lucky penny... offering luck to the new owner with each step!
